Brunswick Companies Helps Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit & Medina Counties December 17, 2015

Statistically, 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence at some point in their lives. Approximately 1.3 million women are physically assaulted by an intimate partner each year.

Established in the late 1970’s as the Akron Task Force on Battered Women, today’s Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit and Medina Counties works to prevent domestic abuse through advocacy and education. They also support women in need by providing emergency shelter for those affected by violence and abuse in the home.

In order to support the mission of this wonderful organization, Brunswick Companies and its employees collected 104 pounds of food items, as well as 65 pounds of non-food items in the months of December and January. These items were distributed to the women and children who are currently living at or finding support through the shelter.

Through their programs and services, including a crisis center, transitional housing, long-term support, early intervention education, and victim support groups – the Battered Women’s Shelter recognizes that domestic violence does not just affect individuals and families, but the community as a whole.

Brunswick Companies is proud to have supported this initiative and invites you to do the same. To learn more about how you can help, visit the Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit and Medina Counties.
