Commercial Package Policy / CPP

Commercial Package Policies Provide Greater Flexibility When Insuring Your Business
A Commercial Package Policy (or CPP) is a customized package composed of two or more business insurance coverages "bundled" from a single insurance provider. Commercial Package Policies allow a wider range of coverages and limits than are available in a Business Owners Policy (BOP), thus allowing a business additional flexibility in tailoring their coverage to its specific needs.
Insurance companies provide premium discounts on the commercial package package in order to encourage the insured to combine as many coverages as possible in one policy from a single company. The discounts may vary by the class of business and the line of coverage, and generally apply only if both property and general liability coverages are included in the CPP for a particular location.

A Commercial Package Policy provides an array of only the coverage options for the policyholder, in addition to property and general liability. A CPP can also include other coverages, such as Business Income, Electronic Data Processing, Commercial Crime, and Business Automobile.

- Business Automobile
- Business Crime insurance
- Equipment Breakdown and/or Boiler and Machinery

What Is Not Included in a Commercial Package Policy?
While there is great flexibility in the coverages that can be selected, in general the CPP does not include the following (although all are available through BDA):
- Workers' Compensation
- Health, life and disability insurance
- Specialized coverages, such as Directors & Officers Liability, Fiduciary Liability and Professional Liability are written independently from a CPP

What Affects the Cost of Commercial Package Policies?
The package premium is based on a variety of factors, depending on the types of coverages included. For property insurance, the age, construction and value of the building will greatly impact the premium, as will the selection of replacement cost vs. actual cash value basis. For liability coverage, the inherent risk of the insured's operations and products will impact the premium.
